This week we build on last week’s work with addition and subtraction by learning how to multiply and divide fractions. These are core skills that connect to scaling, ratios, and proportional reasoning later in the term.

This week, we extend ideas from last week to include scale drawings, inverse proportion, and linear conversions. These skills will help you solve real-world problems like reading maps, converting measurements, and understanding relationships where one value increases as the other decreases.

This week we begin our work on proportional reasoning by exploring ratios. You will learn how to simplify ratios, find equivalent ratios, share amounts in a given ratio, and link ratios with fractions.
