Week 4: Made in God's Image, Made for a Good World

This week looks at what it means to be human, made consistently, made in God's likeness, and then looks at the world itself, exactly as God intended it before anything went wrong. The story turns darker for a moment, but shows that even in danger, God's plans hold.

This week's readings:

- 30 Second Theology — "Has God always made people the same way?" (Genesis 2:7, 20–30) and "What was the world like after God made it?" (Genesis 1)

- The Greatest Story Ever Told — "The Sword" and "Settling"

Day 1 — Has God Always Made People the Same Way?

Reading:30 Second Theology, "Has God always made people the same way?" (Genesis 2:7, 20–30)

From the first human to the last, every person is formed by God with the same care and the same breath of life. There's no version of humanity God values more than another.

Journal prompt: Do I treat everyone I meet as equally valued by God, even people very different from me?

Prayer: God, thank you for making every person with the same care you made me. Help me see others the way you see them today.

Day 2 — What Was the World Like After God Made It?

Reading: 30 Second Theology, "What was the world like after God made it?" (Genesis 1)

God calls creation "good", not flawed, not accidental, but exactly as it should be. It's worth remembering that the world's brokenness wasn't God's design.

Journal prompt: Where do I see glimpses of that original "good" in the world around me this week?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for making a good world. Help me notice and be grateful for the good that's still here, even in a broken world.

Day 3 — The Sword

Reading: The Greatest Story Ever Told, "The Sword"

Danger enters the story quickly, a threat to the child's life, and a family forced to flee. God's plans aren't protected from opposition; they move forward through it.

Journal prompt: Where do I need to trust that God's plans for me can survive real opposition or difficulty?

Prayer: God, thank you for protecting Jesus even in danger. Give me courage to trust you when things feel unsafe or uncertain.

Day 4 — Settling

Reading: The Greatest Story Ever Told, "Settling"

After the danger, the family finds a place to rest and rebuild an ordinary life. God's story includes both the dramatic moments and the quiet, everyday ones.

Journal prompt: Am I as willing to trust God in the ordinary, quiet parts of my life as I am in the dramatic ones?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the quiet, ordinary parts of life. Help me trust you there just as much as in the hard moments.

Day 5 — Integration

Reading: No new reading — look back over the week.

This week held together a high view of every person and a good, intentional world, and showed that same goodness holding firm even when the story turned dangerous.

Journal prompt: This week I read that every person is made with care and that the world was made good, and I watched that same care protect a family through danger. Where do I need to trust God's care this week?

Prayer: God, thank you for this week. Thank you for how you made people and how you made the world. Help me carry that trust into whatever comes next.
