These basic concepts are essential for more complex concepts later on, so spend the time practising them. However, if you are arriving here having not studied maths before, do not worry, I am starting from scratch, and you will get plenty of practice time

This week you will be introduced to the building blocks of life: cells. This week is a celebration of everything you’ve learned this term. You’ll revise ratio, fractions, percentages, graphs, data handling, and probability through fun online activities and short practice worksheets. At the end of the week, you’ll complete a short assessment covering all of these skills.

This week, we will use sample spaces to calculate probabilities, represent events with Venn diagrams and two-way tables, and apply the product rule for counting outcomes. We will solve problems involving multiple events and combinations.

This week covers frequency tables (grouped and ungrouped), representing grouped data with charts and diagrams, and constructing scatter graphs to describe relationships. Students also draw and interpret a line of best fit to make predictions.

This week, we move beyond straight lines to explore quadratic graphs, reciprocal graphs, and compare linear with non-linear graphs.

This week, we explore gradients, intercepts, and the famous equation y=mx+c. You’ll plot graphs with positive and negative gradients and link them to sequences.

We will explore plotting points in all four quadrants, drawing vertical and horizontal lines, plotting graphs from equations, and finding midpoints. This week, we bring together everything we’ve learned about fractions and percentages. We’ll start by revising how to find percentages of amounts, then move on to increasing and decreasing by percentages, and finding percentage change. We’ll then tackle reverse percentages before finishing the unit with a final assessment project covering all six weeks.

This week, you’ll take all the fraction skills you’ve learned so far, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and apply them to real-world problems. Fractions are not just abstract maths; they’re used in cooking, sport, construction, and science every day. By the end of this week, you’ll be confident in spotting when and how fractions are useful outside the classroom.

This week, we extend ideas from last week to include scale drawings, inverse proportion, and linear conversions. These skills will help you solve real-world problems like reading maps, converting measurements, and understanding relationships where one value increases as the other decreases.

This week we begin our work on proportional reasoning by exploring ratios. You will learn how to simplify ratios, find equivalent ratios, share amounts in a given ratio, and link ratios with fractions.
